Abstract, pure and modern! The Mondrian sideboard was designed and handcrafted by Boca do Lobo in Rio Tinto, Portugal. This exquisite sideboard was inspired by the paintings of Dutch artist Piet Mondrian who was one of the founding artists of De Stijl. The exceptional Mondrian sideboard consists of a grid of vertical and horizontal cabinets drawn in the same manner as the paintings by Piet Mondrian. Rather than painting the external grid drawers with the three primary colors, the Mondrian cabinet relies solely on one minimal modern color, in this case various shades of white with some touches of grey. This piece has several shades appearing in the continuation of the sideboard. The outside facade could be considered a minimalist study. But there is one additional surprise, the bottom liners of each shelf are bestowed with various themes and colors including blue, red, white, etc. To make the picture complete, the entire structure is cased in glass which enhances its gallery-like appearance. Boca do Lobo's Mondrian sideboard is part of the "Limited Edition" of Boca Do Lobo. This exceptional object rewrites the boundaries between the way we perceive the conventional established art scene and these new brilliant avant-garde furniture pieces. The Mondrian is a true collectors piece in every sense of the word. A piece fit for any self-respecting collector and museum. A unicum.
