Plato is a superbly executed work of art; it features our favorite material; Italian Carrara marble. Carrara is a town in the Italian Alps. The marble (Michelangelo's favorite) from this area has been used in Italy since Roman times.

White Carrara marble sidetable, sculpted from a solid block, with bottom surface made of natural red wool felt. Plato can also be used as a stool or a stackable container.

Luigi Baroli Cartoons Room Divider/Partition by Baleri Italia

Luigi Baroli Cartoons Room Divider/Partition by Baleri Italia. Cartoons is an extremely functional divider screen which is perfect for both home- and office environments.

Cartoons creates a special division that is both functional and minimalist at the same time. The idea of the screen is a sublime mystification: a wall that is not a wall. Corrugated cardboard, a humble but reliable material is presented in a very refined technology. Two sheets of cardboard, positioned side by side, ensure the maximum ease in rolling and unrolling the screen, and are connected to a free-standing structure of brushed die cast aluminum. Upper and lower egde of the screen is in matte black.

Award: "Compasso d´Oro" prize.
Museum: Permanent collection of MoMA New York.

The Taccia lamp was designed by Achille Castiglioni for Flos. This clean-lined lamp approaches sculptural art, reflecting light from a concave extruded-aluminum reflector with a matte-white finish. Light is adjusted by positioning the blown glass diffuser. Base is extruded aluminum in an anodized matte black or natural sandblasted finish.

Achille Castiglioni's Taccia Lamp is composed of a base in anodized extruded aluminum that in some items is varnished in black. On the base there is a bell-shaped glass cup which has a concave aluminium white varnished disk on its top.

A light bulb is hidden inside the metal base which is shaped to form some prominent ends that facilitate the diffusion of the heath coming from the light. The transparent glass bell is placed smoothly on the base, and can be oriented to direct the light in many directions.

Achille Castiglioni during an interview about Taccia in 1970 said "we regard it as the Mercedes of the lamps, a symbol of success: maybe because it looks like a classic column. Of course we weren't concerned about prestige when we designed it. We intended to obtain a surface which would remain chilly".

As many other products designed by Achille Castiglioni Taccia has become an extraordinary design work which does not conform with any temporary fashion, and today is marketed with an enormous success.

Achille Castiglioni said of Taccia in a 1970 interview: "We consider it the Mercedes of lamps, a symbol of success: perhaps because it looks like the shaft of a classical column. We certainly weren't thinking of prestige when we designed it. We just wanted a surface that would stay cool. Taccia was devised in 1958, designed and prototyped in 1959 and, after several years of study of the prototype by Flos it was for the first time produced in 1962.

Hans J Wegner Wishbone CH36 Chair in Oiled Walnut and Black Papercord Seat by Carl Hansen

Hans J Wegner Wishbone CH36 Chair in Oiled Walnut and Black Papercord Seat by Carl Hansen. There is no picture for this specific item at the time, but wood and fabric samples are available upon request.

The CH 36 chair dates back to 1962 and is characterized by its simple design and excellent back support. It is a small chair with vertical legs, a plain back and its seat of rope woven into a simple pattern. Its modest exterior tends towards the anonymous. Nevertheless Wegners conscious design is obvious in a small way. The legs taper off slightly towards the floor and this detail is repeated on the rear legs from the seat upwards to make the appearance lighter and more elegant. The curve of the horizontal back's top edge is made narrower than its lower edge to improve the support.

Hans J Wegner Wishbone CH24 Chair in White Oil Oak and Natural Papercord Seat by Carl Hansen

Hans J Wegner Wishbone CH24 Chair in White Oil Oak and Natural Papercord Seat by Carl Hansen. CH 24 was designed as far back as 1949 and is therefore the first of Wegner's chairs for Carl Hansen & Son. The Y-chair or The Wishbone Chair as it is often called due to the shape of the back, is a light chair and even being an armchair a relatively small piece of furniture. The curved hind legs and the semicircular top rail together with the elegant Y-back endows the chair with a gracious and welcoming air.

The CH 24 sits well and its spaciousness allows its user to change position. The back offers good support and most people will feel comfortable in it for a longer period of time. The curved top rail makes it easy to move around the chair, and though the arm rests are long enough to give adequate support to your forearms the chair can still be pushed in close to a table. Consequently the Y-chair is very versatile and is an obvious choice for dining rooms where space is a factor or where you want to create the impression of spaciousness.
